‘I’m Just Not Ready Yet’: Ozzy Osbourne Backs Out Of Comeback Show

Rocker Ozzy Osbourne announced on Monday that he was not going to make his planned appearance at Power Trip in October, citing ongoing concerns about his health.

Osbourne, 74, announced in 2020 after an accident that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease nearly two decades earlier in 2003. Since then, he has faced a number of other health-related issues and has most recently been seen walking with a cane for stability.

“As painful as this is, I’ve had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October,” Osbourne wrote on social media. “My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward.”

“Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed,” the rocker continued. “The band that will be replacing me on Power Trip will be announced shortly. They are personal friends of mine and I can promise that you will not be disappointed.”

“Above all, I want to thank my fans, my band, and my crew for their unconditional loyalty and continual support. I love you all and I will see you soon. God Bless, Ozzy,” he concluded.

Power Trip is a music festival that was announced earlier this year and will take place in Indio, California. In addition to Osbourne, the original lineup includes AC/DC, Guns’n’Roses, Metallica, Tool, and Iron Maiden.

Osbourne had planned to return to the stage despite his decision — announced in February of this year – to retire from touring as concerns about his health have continued to grow.

“In all good conscience, I have now come to the realization that I’m not physically capable of doing my upcoming European/UK tour dates, as I know I couldn’t deal with the travel required, Osbourne explained at the time. “Never would I have imagined my touring days would end this way. My team is currently coming up with ideas for where I will be able to perform without having to travel from city to city and country to country.”
