Once NBA free agency got underway last week, a lot of movement took place in the league, with many players staying put on new deals and some players heading elsewhere to start fresh with a new contract on a new team.

Although there was a ton of movement and deals made over the weekend, the Minnesota Timberwolves stayed relatively quiet, leading some to speculate whether the team was working on another trade to shake things up.

Even though there’s a chance Minnesota rolls the dice on a Karl-Anthony Towns trade before next season, the team is currently focused on securing the future of its best player, with Minnesota inking rising star Anthony Edwards to a five-year contract worth $260 million, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Edwards has improved considerably from season to season since the Timberwolves selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

The Georgia Bulldogs product has quickly become one of the most exciting players in the league, and after three seasons in the books, he’s getting a bit anxious for Minnesota to start being a real force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference.

Last season, the Timberwolves were able to make the NBA playoffs, but much like every team that came up against the eventual NBA champion Denver Nuggets, they came up short, losing to Nikola Jokic and company in five games.

Edwards took his game to another level in the first round against the Nuggets, averaging 31.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game, proving that he’s the real deal and worth this massive contract.
