Analyst Says 1 Recent NBA Award Was ‘Not Debatable’

The San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama was just named the NBA’s Rookie of the Year for this season, and the voting wasn’t even close.

In fact, he became one of just a handful of players to ever win the award unanimously.

While most people agreed with him winning the award, there are a few who feel Chet Holmgren of the Oklahoma City Thunder should’ve won it or at least gotten some real consideration.

But Antonio Daniels, a former NBA player who is now a color commentator for the New Orleans Pelicans, feels Wembanyama deserved each and every vote he got, per SiriusXM NBA Radio.

The 7-foot-4 phenom averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists a game for the San Antonio Spurs, and he seemed to get better as the season went on, especially offensively.

But the best aspect of his game is his defense — he led the NBA with 3.6 blocked shots per game, and he forces opposing teams to change their plans because of his insane length.

Wembanyama’s game, at this point, is mostly rudimentary, but he’s already climbing the list of the game’s best players, and he is expected to rapidly improve over the next few years.

Many feel he can become the best basketball player in the world in as little as three to five years from now, and at that point, he won’t even be in his prime yet.

The Spurs are expected to be aggressive this summer when it comes to obtaining a star guard to pair him up with, and if they succeed in doing so, they could return to the playoffs as soon as next season.
