Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is never one to shy away from making bold statements and making headlines, and he has done exactly that once again when discussing the 2025 draft stocks of his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and star wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter.

Both players will be draft-eligible following this upcoming college football season and project to be potential first-round picks, and Sanders says his boys will have something to say about where exactly they’re headed.

Coach Prime went on the Million$ Worth Of Game Podcast and said, “there’s certain cities that ain’t gonna happen…it’s gonna be an Eli.”

That’s not a “nothing” comment coming from one of the game’s biggest coaches, and it’s certainly not something teams are going to forget even with a whole year between now and the 2025 draft.

By an “Eli,” Sanders is of course referencing the 2004 NFL Draft when the San Diego Chargers had the first overall pick and consensus No. 1 prospect quarterback Eli Manning and his father Archie infamously forced their hand by saying that Eli refused to play for the Chargers if they drafted him.

It’ll be interesting to monitor this situation moving forward and find out if this is an isolated incident, or if the rise in NIL deals will have more big college prospects trying to politick their way into specific situations.

While the 2024 draft is loaded at the top with quarterback talent, 2025 is not, so Sanders might get his wish if he chooses to pull an Eli.
