Multiple Teams Reportedly Interested In Trading For Chargers Star

The Los Angeles Chargers are entering a new era this year, with Jim Harbaugh now running things as the team’s newest head coach.

Harbaugh and the Chargers’ front office are likely going to be making a bunch of roster changes during the next few months, and some of these changes will involve the team moving on from some fan favorites.

One of these players who could be on his way out of Los Angeles in the near future is veteran pass rusher Khalil Mack.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, a number of teams around the NFL are interested in trading for Mack, so the Chargers shouldn’t have a difficult time finding a trade partner this offseason if they want to move on from him (via Dov Kleiman on Twitter).

Mack only has one year remaining on his current contract, and according to Spotrac, his cap hit for the 2024 season is currently a whopping $38.5 million.

If the Chargers can find a way to trade him before March 15, they would create more than $23 million in cap space.

That cap space created drops to $17.75 million if a trade involving Mack gets done after March 15, so Los Angeles definitely has an incentive to ship him elsewhere sooner rather than later.

With the Chargers last season, Mack appeared in 17 games, and he finished with 74 tackles (21 for a loss), 36 pressures, 17 sacks, 10 pass deflections, and five forced fumbles.

Even at 33, Mack can clearly still play at a high level, so Fowler’s report of multiple teams having interest in trading for him really shouldn’t shock anyone.
