Ben Simmons Could Be Close To Returning For Nets
The Brooklyn Nets are in an interesting position as they are 16-22 and 10th in the Eastern Conference.
The Nets have been competitive for most of.the 2023-24 NBA season, but they clearly need a star or two to make any meaningful noise come playoff time.
Brooklyn could easily be a seller at the NBA trade deadline because of the veteran wings they have on the roster.
Dorian Finney-Smith and Royce O’Neal are the most likely trade candidates, though the Nets could also part with some of their young talent if they really want to upgrade.
With the other names on the roster, it’s easy to forget about Ben Simmons, who has missed almost the entirety of the regular season due to injuries.
Simmons has been dealing with a nerve impingement in his back, but it looks like he is finally nearing a return to the floor, as noted by Billy Reinhardt on Twitter.
“Big week for him with the Nets back in the states. I’m interested to see if he travels with the team for their upcoming three game road trip (POR, LAL, LAC) with the next steps for him including 5-on-5 with teammates before getting back on the floor,” Reinhardt said.

Simmons has endured plenty of the past few years and his inability to stay on the court has made him arguably the most unmovable player in the league.
He has only appeared in six games for the Nets this year, though he showed flashes of his All-Star form running the offense.
It remains to be seen when Simmons will be able to play for Brooklyn again, but his video clip is encouraging to say the least.
