Pacers Veteran Reportedly Drawing Interest From Playoff Teams

The Indiana Pacers have a good team this season, especially on the offensive end, where they’re doing things that haven’t ever been done.

Entering Friday, they were averaging 128.4 points a game, and if that average were to hold up for the entire season, it would be the highest team scoring average in NBA history.

They also lead everyone in assists per game, shooting percentage, offensive rating, and fast-break points per game, and thus they hold a very solid 13-9 record.

However, Indiana may still make a move before the trade deadline, and their backup point guard T.J. McConnell is reportedly an attractive trade piece, per Alex Golden.

McConnell, who went undrafted out of the University of Arizona in 2015, is averaging 7.6 points and 4.3 assists a game this season.

He has always been an efficient offensive player, as he owns a career shooting accuracy of 50.9 percent from the field, and so far this year, he’s at 53.5 percent.

The story for the Pacers this season has been the emergence of guard Tyrese Haliburton, who was already a star coming into the season but is now blossoming as perhaps a superstar.

He’s putting up 26.1 points and an NBA-high 12.0 assists a game while shooting 52.0 percent from the field and 43.9 percent from 3-point range.

Given his success and his team’s success, the team will likely want to do what it reasonably can to take the next level and maximize his prowess.

Indiana could use more depth up front in order to counter the star power at the forward position of teams such as the Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, and Miami Heat.
