‘Lady Ballers’ Gets Shoutout During Congressional Hearing: ‘I Encourage Everyone To Watch

Mainstream reviewers may refuse to acknowledge it, but the DailyWire+ comedy “Lady Ballers” did get a mention during a congressional hearing on Biden’s proposed changes to Title IX this week.

After Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO) mentioned that The Daily Wire just released the comedy, former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines, who is also featured in the film, said she was happy that the sports comedy “mocked the mockery” of biological men who identify as transgender competing against women in sports.

“If it weren’t so tragic, it would be comical,” Burlison said during the congressional hearing on Tuesday. “I understand there’s a movie being made, a comedy about this very issue that’s on The Daily Wire that I can’t wait to see.”

“I encourage everyone to watch [Lady Ballers],” Gaines replied in her testimony. “Watching that movie … didn’t feel like satire. It felt like a documentary of what, again, myself and girls around the country continue to go through.”

Gaines is one of the only competitive swimmers brave enough to speak out publicly against the idea of men being permitted to compete in the women’s category after she was forced to compete against trans-identifying swimmer Lia Thomas. 

Daily Wire co-founder and “Lady Ballers” director and star Jeremy Boreing announced on X that he sent a free screener of the film to those at the hearing.

“Ahead of today’s Title IX hearing, every member of the committee received a free screener of #LadyBallers,” he wrote. “I thought they needed a reminder that men pretending to be women and brutally dominating women’s sports is something to be mocked, not an idea to be written into law.”

“Lady Ballers,” the Daily Wire’s first-ever feature-length comedy, tells the story of one down-on-his-luck former high school basketball coach, Rob, who will do anything to win — which in this case means teaching his team of men radical modern gender theory and leading them to identify as women in order to brutally dominate multiple women’s sports.

Though it’s mostly been ignored by critics, “Lady Ballers” was the top streaming film on Rotten Tomatoes earlier this week and boasts an audience score of 91%, with more than 5,000 reviews.

The film addresses the reality of men competing against women with a generous dose of humor, though the reality of this issue is anything but funny. The Biden admin’s proposed changes to Title IX would effectively broaden the definition of sex to include “gender identity,” making it impossible for schools, colleges, and universities to prohibit biological men from competing against women. Doing so would mean risking their federal funding.
