Jerry Jones Makes Clear Statement On Cowboys’ Desire To Beat Rival

After getting crushed by the San Francisco 49ers earlier in the season, the next biggest game on the schedule for the Dallas Cowboys was the NFC East showdown against the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles on the road at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 9.

The Cowboys have had a few weeks to get their act together after falling apart against the 49ers, and they’ve done a good job of doing so, as they will come into this matchup against the Eagles having won two straight games against the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams.

Even though the Cowboys have seemingly gotten back on track as legitimate title contenders in the NFC, the team knows that a win in Week 9 against their division rival is absolutely crucial to their success and morale moving forward.

Along with stars like Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons recently talking about the importance of this game, longtime team owner Jerry Jones couldn’t help but put his two cents in on 105.3 The Fan, via Todd Archer of ESPN.

Even though Jones denies that this a measuring-stick game, it is exactly that because getting wins doesn’t mean anything if the Cowboys aren’t doing it against the best of the best in the league, which they’ve struggled to do over the last few years.

Dallas knows that they’ll likely have to meet the Eagles in the NFL playoffs at some point in order to advance to the Super Bowl, meaning this matchup will come back to haunt them if they can’t get over the top and make a statement in Week 9.
