The Arizona Cardinals headed into the 2023 NFL season having made many changes during the offseason, with big-name players getting released like DeAndre Hopkins or retiring like J.J. Watt.

On top of that, star quarterback Kyler Murray was still recovering from offseason surgery to repair a torn ACL in his knee.

That recovery resulted in Murray being put on injured reserve, meaning he’d miss at least the first four games of the season, but it has turned out to be much more than that, as he has yet to play heading into Week 9.

However, it appears that Murray is inching closer to making his 2023 debut, with the most recent report about the team’s status for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns being that Josh Dobbs won’t be the starter and it will either be rookie Clayton Tune or Murray, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic.

This is an interesting development as it appears the team is done with the Dobbs experiment and is ready to get back to normal with Murray or see what they have with Tune.

Obviously, at this point, with one win thus far, the Cardinals are motivated by winning moving forward, as it would benefit them to take their foot off the gas for the rest of the season to improve their draft position, especially with some talented quarterbacks expected to come out of college.

Even though the team still seems to be all in on Murray, that stance could change if they can get their hands on Caleb Williams out of USC or Oregon’s Bo Nix or one of the other top prospects at the position.
