Bears Give Update On Chase Claypool’s Controversial Situation

The 2023 NFL season has been a disaster for the Chicago Bears as they suffered another terrible loss in Week 4.

The Bears looked like they were finally going to snap their losing streak as they got out to a double-digit lead against the Denver Broncos, but collapsed in the second half and remain winless on the year.

Justin Fields managed to put together his best performance of the season as he completed 28 of 35 passes for 335 yards and four touchdowns to go along with 25 yards on the ground.

However, that wasn’t enough as Chicago’s defense was unable to string together stops and allowed Russell Wilson to lead Denver down the field and convert the game-winning field goal.

D.J. Moore and Cole Kmet handled the bulk of the receiving work as they combined for 15 receptions, and three touchdowns but it was almost out of necessity as Chase Claypool was declared a healthy scratch before kickoff.

According to Adam Jahns of The Athletic, the Bears actually asked Claypool to stay home.

UPDATE: A Bears team spokesman is now clarifying that the team asked WR Chase Claypool to stay home from the game today.

Claypool drew a lot of criticism for his lackluster effort in their Week 1 loss to the Green Bay Packers and was immediately told he would either be benched or traded if that continued.

The wideout seemed to respond with a couple of improved showings, but the team seemingly remained unconvinced that he had changed his attitude and mentality.

This is turning out to be a disastrous trade for the Bears who gave up a second-round pick last year to acquire Claypool.

Now, it seems like Claypool’s time with Chicago is coming to an end and it’s interesting to think about which team might bite on taking a flier on him.
