Reporter Notes Knicks’ Plans If They Land Jrue Holiday
The New York Knicks may find it tougher to climb up the Eastern Conference standings this year as the teams around them have gotten better.
The biggest news around the NBA right now is Damian Lillard as the Portland Trail Blazers decided to send him to the Milwaukee Bucks in a shocking three-team trade.
The Bucks felt the need to make a move after Giannis Antetokounmpo publicly announced he wouldn’t be signing an extension, but with Lillard on board, the Greek Freak has plenty of reasons to stay now.
However, acquiring Lillard cost Milwaukee Jrue Holiday who they shipped out to Portland in the deal.
Holiday is entering the final year of his deal and it appears that the Bucks were unwilling to sign him to a lucrative extension.
Shortly after the trade was announced, several teams were linked to Holiday and the Knicks are reportedly interested in re-signing him if they were able to trade for him via Ian Begley.
“If the Knicks acquire Holiday, they’d do so with the idea of extending him or re-signing him as a free agent,” Begley said.

Holiday feels like a perfect backcourt complement to Jalen Brunson as he can handle lead guard duties and still guard the opposing team’s best perimeter threat.
All 30 teams would benefit from having Holiday on their roster, but it feels like Portland is content waiting it out and seeing what offers will look like as the season goes on.
The Trail Blazers should be able to extract several useful assets for Holiday and it’ll be interesting to see when or if the Knicks make a move on him.
