Former NBA Coaches Drawing Interest For Knicks Job

Viewers who enjoy watching the New York Knicks will see less of Hall of Famer Walt Frazier in the future.

The seven-time All-Star is looking to spend less time on the road so MSG Network is searching for replacement announcers to call Knicks games in 2023-24 and beyond.

According to the New York Daily News, via NBACentral, MSG Network is considering Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson as potential fill-ins.

If it comes down to Van Gundy and Jackson, it’s all a matter of what type of perspective MSG Network needs.

Mark Jackson spent years playing in the NBA but only a few as a coach, leading the Golden State Warriors from 2011 to 2014.

As for Van Gundy, he was an NBA coach for many years.

And, of course, he spent most of his career with the Knicks.

He started as an assistant coach with the team back in 1989.

After several years of being an assistant, he stepped up to take on the head coach position in 1995.

He was leading the team during some exciting years in the late 1990s and even led them to an Eastern Conference championship in 1999.

However, they never won the Finals during his tenure.

Since retiring from coaching, both of these men have been on television quite a bit.

But they were recently let go by ESPN and have been in the mix for a few commentating jobs.

They have also been mentioned as possible candidates for coaching jobs in the league.

Both Van Gundy and Jackson bring a ton of expertise that fans of the Knicks would love.

But Van Gundy brings a close connection to the team that might end up getting him the job.
