Yankees Officially Welcome Another Top Prospect To The Majors
The New York Yankees haven’t had a great year when it comes to performance.
They are 65-69, last in the AL East, and with virtually no chances of making the postseason.
The negative record, however, has persuaded them to promote several of their top prospects to see what they have in them.
They are now treating the rest of 2023 as an audition for 2024.
Prospects such as Everson Pereira, Oswald Peraza, and Oswaldo Cabrera are currently in the majors showing the best of their talent.
Catcher Austin Wells was called up on Friday, and so was one of the most impressive prospects in the entire system: Jasson Dominguez.
The team welcomed him with a tweet.

Dominguez is called the “Martian”, hence the theme of the tweet, and if recent minor league numbers are any indication, he is ready to take the league by storm.
He posted a .781 OPS in Double-A Somerset, with 15 home runs and 36 stolen bases, and that earned him a promotion to Triple-A where he has slashed .419/.514/.581 with three steals and a 1.094 OPS in nine Triple-A games.
Historically, Dominguez has taken a little while to adjust to new levels (with the notable exception of Triple-A this year), so the Yankees want him to get acquainted to big-league pitching and with being in the MLB atmosphere.
They want to get that out of the way in a low-pressure environment: they aren’t realistically fighting for the playoffs anymore and that is in no way Dominguez’s fault.
Judging on how he looks this month, the Yankees will likely start mapping out a potential 2024 role for him.
The talent is there for him to be an All-Star down the road.
