Paul DeJong was traded from the St. Louis Cardinals to the Toronto Blue Jays this year at the deadline.

However, DeJong struggled in Toronto and was ultimately designated for assignment.

Fortunately, the San Francisco Giants found a spot for the veteran shortstop.

On Wednesday, he played his first game with the Giants as they took on the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

DeJong made himself right at home, picking up three hits against the reigning National League champions and even driving in the winning runs in the 10th inning.

On Twitter, FOX Sports posted a video of DeJong’s big hit in the 10th.

DeJong certainly had a big day in his Giants debut.

He went 3-for-5 with four RBI.

Prior to his go-ahead knock in the 10th, DeJong swatted a two-run home run in the top of the fourth to give the Giants a 4-0 lead.

But it was a big day for the veteran shortstop as he made his Giants debut.

His home run was his 14th of the season.

Interestingly enough, he went just 3-for-44 with the Blue Jays.

However, a change of scenery appears to have helped the former All-Star.

The Cardinals were out of contention when they traded him to the Blue Jays, who needed a shortstop with Bo Bichette out.

Bichette’s return ultimately led to the Blue Jays cutting ties with DeJong.

However, another contender in the Giants decided to take a chance on him, and so far, San Francisco is reaping the benefits of this acquisition.
