Kendrick Perkins Backs Dwight Howard’s Claim About His Prime

Old-school NBA fans aren’t always that fond of today’s game.

Nowadays, big men have to be able to stretch the floor with their shooting, and Nikola Jokic has established himself as the undisputed best center on Earth.

However, as good as Jokic has been for a while and is nowadays, former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins still believes Dwight Howard was better than him in his prime.

In a recent appearance on Patrick Beverley’s podcast, the former Celtics big lauded Howard’s physicality and ability to put up numbers in a time we didn’t see the same high scores and fast-paced offenses we see nowadays.

He claimed that he just couldn’t let Howard get to his spot and praised the way he dominated both ends of the glass.

To each his own, and there’s absolutely no way to deny that Howard was a force to be reckoned with in his prime.

He should be a first-ballot Hall of Famer and go down as one of the greatest big men, rim protectors, and rebounders of all time.

Nonetheless, he didn’t change the way the game is played as Jokic has done.

Jokic is the ultimate point center and triple-threat guy, a point guard trapped in a seven-footer’s body, and a guy who can dominate the entire flow of the game like not many other players have done in the past.

There’s no point in comparing two players from different eras and with different styles, and Perkins may have dropped the ball with this one.
