Pat Riley Recalls Dwyane Wade And Heat Complex Relationship In 2016

Dwayne Wade will go down in Miami Heat history as one of it’s best players.

He’s not only a fan-favorite but holds many franchise records, as he is their leader in points, assists, and steals.

While he spent the majority of his career with the Heat, Wade took a season to play for the Chicago Bulls and a season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Pat Riley, former head coach and current president of the Heat recently described his feelings when Wade initially left.

According to ClutchPoints, Riley said, “There were some hard feelings on both sides.”

“When he left there were some hard feelings on both sides. They weren’t lethal… I knew we could work it out but we didn’t. We didn’t and that’s our fault.”

Riley also added, “I knew we could work it out but we didn’t.”

After almost two seasons between the Bulls and Cavaliers, Wade returned to the Heat to close out his career.

It appeared that whatever animosity there was between Wade and Riley was gone, given his return to the team.

Wade has three NBA titles to his name and is famous for teaming up with Chris Bosh and LeBron James.

They were the first ‘Super Team’ which many have tried to replicate in the seasons to follow.

While Wade is now retired and away from the team, a new era of Heat basketball has begun.

Jimmy Butler has taken over as the team leader, making the NBA Finals during the 2022-2023 season before falling to the Denver Nuggets.
