The Las Vegas Raiders have been dealing with a lot of issues over the past few years, and things haven’t seemed to get any better heading into this year’s training camp, which is the second for head coach Josh McDaniels.

With longtime starting quarterback Derek Carr getting released and signing with the New Orleans Saints, the Raiders have turned to veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to lead the team moving forward.

The arrival of Garoppolo came with problems right away, as he didn’t pass his physical with the team initially, which led to a delay in signing his contract, and then he immediately had foot surgery, casting doubt on when he’d be ready to play for the team.

Ultimately, Garoppolo was able to get back quickly after foot surgery and is currently at training camp with his new team, but he’s been throwing some interceptions, which has some questioning his ability moving forward.

McDaniels, however, isn’t concerned about the interceptions Garoppolo has thrown, as he thinks it’s more of an indication that the defense might be improved via Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.

McDaniels may have a point that the Raiders’ defense has finally taken a step forward, as the team did address some needs on that side of the football during this NFL offseason by bringing in Marcus Epps and Marcus Peters, as well as rookie defensive end Tyree Wilson.

However, the Raiders really won’t know what they have until the start of the 2023 NFL season, which will get underway for Las Vegas on September 10 on the road against the division-rival Denver Broncos.
