Victor Wembanyama Is Drawing Record Ticket Prices For Summer League

Every NBA team’s urge and desire to get their hands on Victor Wembanyama in the draft wasn’t just due to basketball purposes.

Regardless of what he does on the floor, having him on the roster could drive a franchise’s value up drastically, and it’s showing already.

According to a report by NBA on ESPN, the Wembanyama effect can already be felt during the Summer League, as the $96 average ticket price to watch the San Antonio Spurs is the highest it’s been since tracking started in 2015.

Wembanyama is expected to make his Summer League debut on Friday night against Brandon Miller and the Charlotte Hornets in a battle of the top-two selections in this year’s class.

Still, the fact that someone is willing to pay that much money to watch two Summer League teams featuring mostly guys that won’t even make the final roster speaks volumes of Wembanyama’s potential financial implications in the league.

Of course, this hype won’t last forever, and it’s up to Wemby to keep the ball rolling and become the new face of the Association.

But some predict it might take a while before he gets to unleash his full skill set, as he may need to get up to speed with the velocity and physicality of the NBA, especially given his lanky frame and — obviously — his remarkable height.

Wembanyama has everything to become the next superstar in competitive sports, and he might as well make some very rich people even wealthier if things go right for him in his career.
