Analyst Says The Celtics Are Not Expected To Be In The Mix For Damian Lillard
The Boston Celtics made one of their biggest moves in recent history by letting go of Marcus Smart to land Kristaps Porzingis.
Not every day a player of Porzingis’ caliber becomes available, and that was just what they needed from a basketball standpoint.
But the Celtics didn’t stop there, as they were reportedly in the works for a Damian Lillard trade, which no longer seems to be the case anymore, according to a report by Adam Himmelsbach.
-Per sources, the Celtics are not expected to be in the mix for Damian Lillard.
-Jaylen Brown’s extension remains on course, with talks expected in Vegas.
-More on why the Celtics and Grant Williams parted ways.

Per the Boston Globe insider, the Celtics are no longer in the mix for the disgruntled Portland Trail Blazers star, most likely due to his desire to play for the Miami Heat and the Miami Heat only.
The latest reports cited that Jayson Tatum was actively trying to recruit Lillard to join him at the TD Garden, but Chris Haynes — who’s quite close to Lillard and has often broken most news regarding him — said he didn’t think Lillard would ever want to play there.
Truth be told, Lillard would be a seamless fit in South Beach, both in terms of organizational culture and on the court.
As for the Celtics, they’ve knocked on the door of an NBA championship for quite a while now, so they need to continue to try and find ways to put an end to their title drought once and for all.
