The NFL world is happy for Lamar Jackson.

The Baltimore Ravens star stood his ground, didn’t cede an inch, and got the record-breaking deal he had deserved for quite a while now.

To make it even more impressive, Jackson pulled it off without an agent, prompting plenty of praise among his colleagues.

That includes New Orleans Saints star Derek Carr, who took to Twitter to let it be known that Jackson was worthy of every single penny he was about to get.

Jackson agreed to a five-year contract extension worth $260 million, including a whopping $185 million guaranteed.

Both figures top the record-breaking deal that Jalen Hurts signed with the Philadelphia Eagles last week, but who’s counting?

Lamar had openly admitted that he wanted to be traded away from the team after failing to strike a deal in the offseason, but the Ravens never actually engaged in talks or had the slightest intention of parting ways with their quarterback.

It didn’t seem like they actually valued him at first, as they placed him under the non-exclusive franchise tag, which is why it was slightly surprising to see them taking this massive U-turn.

Jackson is a former MVP who’s yet to reach his prime, and he’s the main reason why the Ravens have been a perennial playoff team since he arrived in the league.

Nonetheless, there were some valid concerns about his health, as he failed to finish both of last seasons, which is why the team seemed hesitant to signing him to a fully-guaranteed deal or giving him plenty of guaranteed cash.

Now, the drama is finally over.
