Olympic Marathoner Trashes Trans-Identifying Male Over ‘Girl Power’ Speech At London Race

Olympic marathoner Mara Yamauchi unloaded on a trans-identifying — but biologically male — runner who topped off Sunday’s London Marathon with a “girl power” speech.

Yamauchi, who finished 6th for Great Britain in the women’s marathon at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, accused Glen “Glenique” Frank of forcing thousands of biological women to accept lower rankings by running in the female division.

Frank, who has used the name Glenique on and off since 2021, gave a post-race interview draped in a transgender pride flag after finishing in 6160th place. The runner cited “girl power” for a successful finish in the race, bragging about becoming a “granny” soon.

Yamauchi was quick to call Frank out in a series of tweets, saying, “This male ran in yesterday’s #LondonMarathon as Glenique Frank in the female category (Mass race) finishing in 6160th place out of 20123. So nearly 14,000 actual females suffered a worse finish position bc of him. Last month, he ran in the Tokyo Marathon, as Glen Frank, also in the F category, finishing 2829th out of 8609. So nearly 6000 females in worse finish position. Last Nov, he ran the NYC Marathon as Glen Frank in the men’s category, finishing 14,096th out of 26,539.”

Yamauchi went on to note that recent decisions from top athletic organizations would bar biological post-puberty males from competing in women’s events — but that the London Marathon had made an exception for those who had already registered in the women’s division.

“I assume this is how Frank was allowed to race (yesterday). Nevertheless, males in the F category is UNFAIR for females,” she tweeted.

Yamauchi went on to say that she did not know how many biological males would be effectively grandfathered in because they had signed up for races in female divisions prior to the rules change — but said there had been at least one in each of the last two marathons in the U.K.

How many more will there be? How many more males will take this opportunity to screw over female athletes one or a few final times before this disgraceful insanity ends? And why didn’t the BBC interviewer challenge Frank on this? #SaveWomensSports,” Yamauchi added.
