Nicolas Cage Shoots Down Idea Fans Will Ever See Him In A ‘Star Wars’ Project, Explains

Superstar Nicolas Cage shot down the idea that fans will ever see him in a “Star Wars” project and explained that he’s a “trekkie” and his place is on the deck of the Star Trek Enterprise.

The 59-year-old actor responded to the idea — which was floated by his former costar Pedro Pascal — after the Disney+ “The Mandalorian” star said he wanted to bring Cage into the famed “Star Wars” universe, Variety reported.

“I’m not really down,” Cage explained. “I’m a Trekkie, man. I’m on the Star Trek Enterprise. That’s where I roll.”

“I’m not in the ‘Star Wars’ family,” the superstar actor added. “I’m in the ‘Star Trek’ family.”

The “Ghost Rider” star explained how he “grew up watching [William] Shatner” and thought the new generation of actors in the “Star Trek” franchise like Chris Pine were “terrific in the movies.”

“I think the movies are outstanding,” Cage shared. “I like the political and the sociological [messages]. To me, what science fiction is really all about and why it’s such an important genre is that really you can say whatever you want, however you feel.”

“You put it on a different planet, you put it in a different time or in the future, and without people just jumping on you, you can really express your thoughts like Orwell or whomever in the science-fiction format,” the actor added. “And Star Trek really embraced that. I thought they got into some serious stuff.”

In September at the Disney’s D23 expo, Pascal shared that he had already pitched the idea of having Cage joining him on the hit Disney series following their 2022 buddy film “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent,” the New York Post noted.

“I already suggested [it],” Pascal shared at the time. “I already said he would make a great Mandalorian.”

“He’ll wear a helmet,” he added.  “Absolutely … Or he could be one of the helmet-less.”

The Shatner-lead late 60s “Star Trek” TV series branched off into a hugely successful franchise, leading to 13 films to date, not to mention all the hit TV series that stem from the “Star Trek” world, since the original aired in 1966, the Hollywood Reporter noted.
