Ex-Broncos Star Running Back Ronnie Hillman Fighting For His Life In Hospice, Report Says

Former Denver Broncos running back Ronnie Hillman, 31, is reportedly fighting for his life while in hospice care.

Hillman’s former Broncos teammates, Derek Wolfe and Orlando Franklin, who both now work as hosts on 104.3 The Fan, made the disclosure Tuesday while on air.

Hillman was reportedly in hospice care while battling liver cancer when he contracted pneumonia.

“He’s got bad liver cancer and he’s in hospice now,” Wolfe said. “It’s not looking good. He has pneumonia and I’m putting it out there just to send positive vibes his way.”

“He’s in hospice and not doing well,” Franklin added on Twitter.

Hillman’s former teammate at San Diego State University, former running back DJ Pumphrey, who is now a coach on the team, tweeted: “Lord please watch over my Aztec brother! My prayers will never stop big dawg!”

Hillman was drafted in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Broncos.

His best season came in 2015 when he ran for 863 yards and 7 touchdowns. The Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers 24-10 in the Super Bowl that season.

“He also played for the Vikings (2016), Chargers (2016) and Cowboys (2017), rushing for 1,976 career yards with 12 TDs,” the San Diego Union-Tribune reported. “Hillman also was a reliable pass catcher out of the backfield, with 74 career receptions for 524 yards.”
