Burgess prepared for NCAA Regional appearance


BLACKSBURG – Connor Burgess is set to tee off on Monday morning in the Columbus Regional of the 2022 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship. The senior from Lynchburg, Va. enters his first career NCAA regional as the No. 5 seed. 
 
Burgess is one of 10 individuals selected to compete in the Columbus Regional, a 54-hole event being held at The Ohio State University Golf Club’s Scarlet Course. The top five teams and the top individual not on an advancing team will qualify for the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship finals. The finals this season will be played May 27-June 1 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
 
Leading the Hokies with a 71.30 stroke average this season, Burgess recorded two top-10 showing and a team high 21 par-or-better rounds. 
 
Burgess will make Virginia Tech’s fourth NCAA regional performance in the last six years, as Mark Lawrence Jr. competed in the Stillwater Regional (2021), Raleigh Regional (2018) and West Lafayette Regional (2017).
 
Players will tee off on the first and 10th holes on all three days of competition.
