Cedar Point Staffers Report Sex Assaults, Lax Security: WKYC Investigates
Cedar Point will open this weekend with new attractions, including new food and revamped resorts. Serving the fun-seeking crowds is an army of employees, many of them young people who live in nearby dormitories for the summer. When the rides stop, however, and the crowds go home, some of those employees say dark and disgusting misdeeds befall them.
WKYC.com investigated 27 reports of sexual assaults filed by Cedar Point employees with the Sandusky police in the last five years.
- How many were prosecuted? Only three of those cases resulted in arrests. Police reports reveal that officers wrote investigations of the sex assaults would take place “as time permits” in nine of the cases.
- Did you know this? Cedar Point has its own police force with officers state-certified to make arrests and carry weapons. They turn over serious crimes to the Sandusky police.
- Federal lawsuit: A woman from Toledo filed a lawsuit in federal court claiming negligence and lax security at Cedar Point led to her sex assault. The number of officers and security guards stationed near the dorms was reduced in 2020, the suit claims.
- Cedar Point says: The theme park operator says the dormitories are monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Did You Know Ohio Is A Big UFO State?
Ohio ranks sixth in the United States for UFO sightings, according to the Mutual UFO Network. Several unexplained flying objects have been reported in Akron, Mayfield Heights, Crestline and other communities in recent months, reports Fox 8 Cleveland.
- Rectangles, triangles and discs in formation have been described by on-the-ground witnesses.
- “And from an aeronautical point of view, some of these shapes make no sense,” said Robert Swiatek, an investigator and board member with MUFON.
