Letter: Ukraine still profits from Russia’s gas

Since the invasion of Ukraine in February of this year, the U.S. has sent billions in military and aid assistance to the Ukrainians. The common citizen of Ukraine has suffered mightily against the onslaught of the Russian hoards, who are responsible for the terror and mass killings of civilians.

But what about the officials of the Ukrainian government? At the start of the war, we’re told that the life of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was in grave danger of assassination by Putin, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Zelenskyy has become a rock star around the world, popping up in videos and in person at the drop of a hat.

In the slaughter of Ukrainian civilians wherever Russia sets foot, why is the Ukrainian government still doing business with Russia? In a March 22 article in Bloomberg online at bloom.bg/3MwifJ8, Russia is still using Ukrainian pipelines through Ukraine to Europe to fuel Putin’s war machine and paying the Ukrainian government in full for the privilege.

This is insane. This article is over a month old, and I have searched for something more current but have not found it.

Putin’s war costs Russia an estimated $1 billion a day, and that is about the amount he gets for selling his oil/gas to western Europe.

Whenever this war ends, and all wars do, tens of thousands of people will have died for their countries, but Putin and Zelenskyy will still be in power. Could be wrong, just a wild guess.
