Drowning Child And Mom Rescued From Cuyahoga River

A kayaker who heard cries for help in the Cuyahoga River paddled to a mother and child and saved them from drowning Saturday night in Kent. The kayaker noticed the small child was in extreme distress, according to the Kent Fire Department, and officers arrived within minutes to assist. Shortly thereafter, rescue swimmers and a Portage County rescue boat arrived. The mother and child were taken to Akron Children’s Hospital. Hit-And-Run Fatality And Arrest

The little girl struck by a hit-and-run driver in Cleveland has died. The 5-year-old girl ran into the street from between two parked cars, according to police, on West 50th Street in the Stockyards neighborhood.

  • The car hit her, sent her flying through the air, and then ran over her. The driver fled.
  • As of Sunday, police have a 17-year-old girl in custody.
  • Correction: Police on Saturday said the child was 6 years old. She was 5.

Cedar Point Resorts To Reopen

Two newly renovated resorts at Cedar Point — Castaway Bay and Sawmill Creek — will open as the amusement park readies for its 152nd season.

Both have been closed since 2020. Cedar Point opens May 6. (cleveland.com)

Mother’s Day Brunch Honors

A Lakewood restaurant has made Open Table’s 100 Best Mother’s Day Brunch Restaurants in the United States for 2022. Pier W, 12700 Lake Avenue Winton Place in Lakewood, is the only Cleveland-area restaurant on the list. The Bistro at Gervasi Vineyard in Canton also made the list, as did two Columbus-area restaurants.
