ThisWeek announces Super 12 girls bowling honorees for 2021-22
During the regular season and postseason, ThisWeek’s Super 12 girls bowling honorees were ready to strike.
All the honorees are finalists to be named Captain – our girls bowling Athlete of the Year.
Our top athletes in all 30 sports will be among the honors revealed during the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards, presented by Encova Insurance and in partnership with Nationwide Children’s Hospital Sports Medicine and Raising Cane’s. The event will be held June 15 at the Ohio Theatre. A registration link will be available soon.

Here is the Super 12 for girls bowling:
Phoebe Anderson
School: Olentangy
Year: Junior
Anderson was the only junior on a senior-laden, well-balanced Braves team that qualified for the Division I state tournament for the third consecutive season.
A repeat Super 12 honoree, she was seventh in average (186.5) in the COHSBC and 11th (184.1) in the OCC. She rolled a 638 three-game series to finish third at sectional, and her 256 game against Delaware on Feb. 9 was a career high and the team high for the season.
Savannah Claar
School: Olentangy
Year: Senior
Claar was the top bowler for the Braves, averaging 190.8 per game to finish seventh in the OCC and 189.6 to finish sixth in the COHSBC. She rolled a season-best 246 against Columbus International on Dec. 13 to match her career high.
Her 622 three-game series was good for fifth at district, helping Olentangy reach state for the third consecutive season. The Braves had their best state finish in program history (10th, 2,994) – eight pins from advancing to championship play.
Jade Gabor
School: Newark
Year: Sophomore
While helping the Wildcats go 7-0 to win the OCC-Cardinal Division, Gabor averaged 199.8 to finish second in OCC matches.
She then was eighth (565) at the Division I sectional before rolling a 626 to finish third at district, advancing her individually to state. She was 71th (450) in her first state appearance after coming up one spot short of advancing as a freshman.
Hannah Halstead
School: Delaware Hayes
Year: Senior
Halstead rolled through the first two rounds of the postseason, recording a 678 three-game series to win the Division I sectional championship only to top that with a 717 to capture her second consecutive district title.
She led both the COHSBC (207.7) and the OCC (207.9) in average and made the Super 12 team for the second consecutive season. She finished 28th at state, but her 546 series was the best of her three appearances.
Payton Hartgrove
School: Westerville Central
Year: Junior
As the lone girl in the program, Hartgrove competed on the boys team in the regular season and finished with a team-best 198.5 average as the Warhawks shared the COHSBC-A and OCC-Buckeye titles with Big Walnut.
In the Division I girls state tournament, Hartgrove finished second (663) behind Amherst Steele’s Makayla Velasquez (664). She was seventh (615) at district and ninth (561) at sectional.
She also made the Super 12 as a freshman.
Danielle Phipps
School: Jonathan Alder
Year: Junior
Phipps led the CBC in average (204.3) and paced the Pioneers to a 16-0 record and first place in the CBC-Kenton Trail.
Phipps shot a 583 to place sixth in the Division I sectional as Jonathan Alder won the title. She then was runner-up (672) at district as her team finished second and tied for 14th (571) at state as the Pioneers were runners-up.
Emma Pugh
School: Pickerington Central
Year: Freshman
Pugh began her prep career in memorable fashion, leading the Tigers in average (184.2) and ranking eighth in the COHSBC as Central went 11-1 overall, 10-1 in the COHSBC-C and 5-1 in the OCC-Central, and made its first Division I state tournament as a team.
Pugh had a high game of 256 and finished 10th (581) at district and tied for 49th (506) at state, where Central placed 15th.
Tori Richardson
School: Gahanna Lincoln
Year: Senior
A four-year varsity contributor who helped the Lions win Division I state titles in 2020 and 2021 and also made the Super 12 last season, Richardson had a 571 to finish 11th as her team won the district title. She tied for 28th (546) at state as Gahanna placed 11th.
During the regular season, Richardson finished fifth (190) in the COHSBC in average. Her best performance came when she rolled a 681 three-game series Jan. 15 in the Central District Preview tournament.
Delaney Rossette
School: Gahanna Lincoln
Year: Junior
After finishing four spots short of advancing to state individually as a freshman while attending Worthington Kilbourne, Rossette didn’t compete as a sophomore but returned this winter for the Lions and emerged as one of central Ohio’s best.
She finished third in the COHSBC in average (194.5) and followed with fourth-place finishes at both the Division I sectional (607) and district (624) tournaments. Then at state, she finished third (644).
Olivia Strait
School: Licking Valley
Year: Sophomore
Strait averaged 192 in league matches to earn LCL Bowler of the Year honors. Then in the Division II postseason, she placed third (596) at sectional and first (648) at district.
At state, Strait shot a 506 to finish fourth among all Central District competitors and 31st overall. As a freshman, she finished 12 pins from advancing to state.
Madison Strouse
School: Marysville
Year: Junior
Strouse led the Monarchs by finishing ninth (582) in the Division I district tournament, one spot shy of an individual-qualifying berth for state as Marysville finished ninth. That was a marked improvement from sectional, where she tied for 24th with a 519.
Strouse finished second in the COHSBC with a 197 average and had a high game of 268.
Addison Watson
School: Gahanna Lincoln
Year: Senior
A three-year regular for the Lions, Watson finished fourth (192.3) in the COHSBC in average. She was 12th (538) in the Division I sectional as Gahanna was runner-up and 12th at district, shooting a 565 as the Lions won the title, before finishing 70th (451) at state.
On Jan. 22 in the Winter Shootout tournament, Watson rolled a 683 three-game series.
