Shop Hop, Easter Bunny slated for Downtown Fremont
FREMONT — Downtown Fremont Inc. will host the Shop Hop and Easter Bunny Visit 11 a.m.-2 p.m. April 16.
Attendance to the events is free to the public and sponsored by Homes by KF Construction and Excavating.
Featured Downtown Fremont businesses have Shop Hop participant signs on their doors for kids to stop in to get a treat as well as the opportunity for kids of all ages to shop new merchandise.
Businesses will have spring savings to go along with purchases. Make sure to bring a basket.
The Easter Bunny will be at the Bunny House 11 a.m.-2 p.m. for pictures with kids.
Riverview cooks take first place
OAK HARBOR — The Ottawa County Riverview Healthcare Campus ViewCrew Cooks was awarded first place in the OHCA Mystery Box Culinary Competition sponsored by Ohio Healthcare Association (OHCA), Gordon Food Services and Sandridge.
The team of three consisted of cooks Sarah Wagner (20 years of service), Lisa Woods (23 years of service) and Margie Zunk (18 years of service), who put their culinary skills to the test in a friendly competition with 25 other facilities in Ohio.
A mystery box of ingredients was delivered to the facility. The Riverview ViewCrew Cooks took the ingredients and found creative dishes to serve using 14 of the 15 ingredients. After sharing the meal with residents the team presented its dishes virtually to the competition’s judges.
Bassett’s to host food drive
PORT CLINTON — Charles Bassett, president and CEO of Ottawa County based Bassett’s Market, announced the Bassett’s Market’s Port Clinton store will host a food drive to benefit the Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank, noon-4 p.m. April 14.
The store is located at the Knoll Crest Shopping Center 3994 East Harbor Road.
Ross math teacher enters externship program
FREMONT — Sherri Henkel, a math teacher from Ross High School, has been accepted into the Manufacturing Engineering Externship Program.
The professional learning program will cover project-based learning and dive deep into manufacturing concepts. Henkel is a Sandusky County Teacher Business Boot Camp alumni. The district noted officials are excited for her opportunity to develop math concepts around STEM manufacturing in Ohio.
