Frank Szymczak Obituary (1949 – 2022) – Mentor, OH


Frank Szymczak, age 72 of Concord Township, Ohio, passed away on March 9, 2022 following a long illness with multiple health issues. He was born on July 22, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Chester and Ruby Szymczak. He was a 1968 graduate of Mentor High School and attended Lakeland Community College. Frank joined the Navy during the Vietnam era serving aboard the USS Oriskany. He was a very proud Navy veteran. After 25 years with Western-Southern Life Insurance Company in Willoughby, Ohio, Frank became involved in the hearing aid business, working alongside his daughter Stefanie Perez at Beltone in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. He loved the industry so much he later became an owner and operator of Beltone Hearing at the Cherry Hills Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Frank enjoyed all sports and was a passionate Cleveland sports fan. He was an avid golfer, hitting a hole in one at Vinkovich Golf Course. He also loved music, but most of all was a great family man. Frank was dedicated to creating a solid family unit and a lifetime of incredible memories that his family will always cherish. He was a loving and adoring husband, father, brother, and grandfather.He leaves behind his wife Freda of 48 years, daughters: Stefanie Perez of Perry, Ohio and Michelle (Jeff Konkoly) McKinley, of Concord, Ohio. Brothers Chester (deceased), Gary of Arizona, Daniel (Deborah) of Mentor, Ohio, and his sister, Darlene Jerse of Arizona. Grandchildren Vanessa Rose Perez, Alexander Frank Perez, Brielle Quinn McKinley, and Brooklyn Rose McKinley. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. We will all miss him dearly. Visitation hours will be Monday evening, March 14, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Avenue, Mentor. Private services for the immediate family will be on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Private family inurnment will be in Mentor Cemetery.Memorial contributions can be made in Frank’s memory to St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 7989 Little Mountain Rd., Mentor, Ohio 44060.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the medical staff at the VA Hospital, TriPoint Medical Center, and Visiting Angels Home Care.
