Concerned employee calls for welfare check of co-worker, who is found in business’s lot


BEACHWOOD, Ohio — Possession of drug paraphernalia: Chagrin Boulevard

At 3:10 p.m. March 3, an employee of Marco’s Pizza, 24335 Chagrin Blvd., called police out of concern for a co-worker who showed up late for work, was crying, and who had disappeared for a few hours. Officers found the subject intoxicated and in his car in the store’s parking lot.

After investigating, police arrested the Willowick man, 34. Police charged the man with possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to maintain physical control, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and marijuana possession.

Violating a protection order: Richmond Road

At 8:30 a.m. March 2, a Warrensville Heights man, 25, who was a prisoner in the Beachwood jail, 2700 Richmond Road, called from jail a Cleveland woman, 41, who had a civil protection order against the man. The man was charged with violating the order.

Carrying a concealed weapon: Brandon Road

At 4:35 p.m. March 2, an officer conducted a traffic stop of a car that had license plates obstructed from view. During the stop, police searched the driver’s car and found a handgun, drug paraphernalia and an open container of alcohol.

The driver, a Beachwood man, 23, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, a felony, as well as improper handling of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and improper display of license plates.

Auto theft: I-271

At 4:30 p.m. March 2, a North Randall man, 43, went to the polices station to report that his car was missing. The man said that, a couple of days earlier, as he drove on I-271, he slid off the road and his car struck a concrete bridge, damaging its front end and disabling the auto.

The man was able to get a ride from the scene and, later, called for a tow truck. The tow truck operator told the man the car was no longer at the bridge. The man believes the car was stolen.

Assault: North Woodland Road

At noon March 3, a Beachwood woman, 38, reported that she had been assaulted in August and September by her boyfriend, 40, of Painesville. When police contacted the man, he denied assaulting the woman.

Theft: Cedar Road

At 5:10 p.m. March 5, police arrested a Seven Hills woman, 56, for stealing merchandise totaling $415.98 from Dillard’s at Beachwood Place mall, 26300 Cedar Road.
