Emerald Street businesses ransacked: North Ridgeville police blotter
NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio
Breaking and entering: Emerald Street
Officers responded to a business alarm on January 23. Several businesses had been broken into and ransacked.
Burglary: Westwood Drive
On January 25, a resident arrived home and heard someone in an upstairs room. The resident confronted the suspect, who ran out the back door.
Pursuit: Sugar Ridge Road
On January 30, Ohio State Patrol was pursuing a car. After it crashed, two people stayed in the car and the other three – all teenagers – fled. One was immediately captured by North Ridgeville Police. The K-9 unit was deployed, and the other two suspects were located in an open semi-trailer.
Theft: Lear Nagle Road
On January 17 a man reported his car stolen.
Assault: Bainbridge Road
On January 26, the student resource officer attempted to stop a fight between two 13-year-old girls. One of the girls punched the other in the head two more times before they could be separated. One of the girls was referred to juvenile court on charges of assault and disorderly conduct.
Fleeing: Center Ridge Road
On January 26, an officer attempted a traffic stop but the driver fled. After a short pursuit, the woman stopped; and she was charged fleeing police and driving under suspension.
Criminal damaging: Center Ridge Road
Officers responded to a healthcare facility for a man who had learned his grandmother had passed away, became irate and punched a window on January 28. He was charged with criminal damaging.
Drunk driving: Center Ridge Road
Officers responded to a car off the road on US 20 near the Interstate 480 overpass on January 30. An Avon man was arrested and charged with drunk driving and reasonable control.
Drunk driving: Ohio 10
On January 29, police investigating a non-injury crash arrested the driver on a charge of drunk driving.
Drunk driving: Lorain Road
A woman speeding in a 35-mph zone was stopped and arrested on a charge of drunk driving on January 29.
Drunk driving: Center Ridge Road
On January 31, police investigated a suspicious car and found the driver had fallen asleep with the car running. The driver was charged with drunk driving.
Drunk driving: Sugar Ridge Road
On January 29, police investigated a single-car crash and determined the driver was under the influence. He was charged with failure to control, drunk driving and using weapons while intoxicated.
