WOOSTER – Crain’s Cleveland Business publication named the Wayne County Community Foundation among the top foundations in Northeast Ohio. It ranked seventh based on the value of grants it awarded.
Total grant-giving by Northeast Ohio foundations was up by 12% in 2021, according to a WCCF news release. Much of the increase came from the top 10 foundations.

Over the last year, the WCCF increased its contributions by over 60%, the news release stated. Only four other foundations, including Cleveland and Akron, did this during the pandemic.
“To be named by Crain’s Cleveland Business as a Top Foundation is a meaningful testament to the generosity of our donors,” said Melanie Garcia, executive director of the WCCF. “With all the uncertainty of the past few years, it is important that the foundation be able to help so many of our nonprofit organizations continue the good they do each and every day for the citizens of Wayne County.”
