Gate project at Cridersville’s Legacy Park near completion

CRIDERSVILLE — The long-awaited Legacy Park gate project in Cridersville is nearing completion.

The gate will be the focal point at the park’s entrance at 300 E. Main St., the site of the former Cridersville District School. After consolidation with the Wapakoneta School District it became the local elementary school and when a new elementary school was built on Reichelderfer Road in 2009 the building was removed. The site became Legacy Park.

Village Administrator Jarid Kohlrieser said the Legacy Gate project was funded in part by the purchase of memorial bricks to be engraved on the side and back of the gate’s columns.

“There is still an opportunity to have your family or business name added to the gate. Those interested in purchasing a brick should visit the Cridersville Historical Society Facebook page or pick up information at the Cridersville Public Library,” Kohlrieser said.

Bricks are available in two sizes: 4-x-8 inch or 8-x-8 inch. Smaller bricks are $175 and larger bricks are $325.

Construction of the gate will be completed within the next two weeks. An official dedication ceremony is being planned for this summer.

The Legacy Park gate is now under construction in Cridersville.
