Spencer Strider Makes A Bold Claim About The Braves

Spencer Strider barely pitched when the Atlanta Braves won the World Series in 2021.

He logged 2.1 regular-season innings that year and didn’t pitch in the playoffs.

It was in 2022 where he shocked the world and posted a 2.67 ERA and 202 strikeouts in 131.2 frames.

Strider knows about individual and collective regular-season success.

He has thoroughly enjoyed both in his short career: the Braves won the NL East in 2022 and 2023 (and 2021, for that matter) and he has, to this point, a solid 3.37 ERA in 320.2 MLB frames.

But after consecutive Division Series eliminations at the hands of the Philadelphia Phillies, fans want more.

Strider knows this, so he said a shocking, yet honest statement.

“Spencer Strider believes anything less than a World Series for the Braves is an underachievement,” Chris Rose Sports tweeted, with a video showing Strider saying exactly that.

It might sound unfair or illogical, but the 104-win Braves lost against the Phillies in the 2023 NLDS and they suffered the same fate in 2022.

Winning in the regular season and succeeding in October are two entirely different things.

The Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers have had to learn that the hard way.

Strider himself hasn’t been able to have the same numbers in the playoffs, where he has a 5.40 ERA in 15 innings to this point.

He expects more of himself and his teammates.

The Braves are looking to break the short drought and make a statement in 2024, led by the talented Strider.

It won’t be easy, as the National League is getting more and more competitive with sneaky good teams that can win in the postseason.
