There is an old saying that too many cooks in the kitchen spoil the soup.

Normally, NFL teams will have one or perhaps two leaders, and everyone else will fall in line and form a clear chain of command and leadership hierarchy.

But the New York Giants will challenge that thinking this season, as they will reportedly have a whopping 10 team captains, per ProFootballTalk.

Quarterback Daniel Jones, running back Saquon Barkley, tackle Andrew Thomas, tight end Darren Waller, defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, defensive tackle Leonard Williams, linebacker Bobby Okereke, cornerback Adoree’ Jackson, safety Xavier McKinney, and kicker Graham Gano will all have the honor of wearing the “C” on their jerseys that denotes the fact that they’re a captain.

Fans were amazed at this development.

This fan feels the Giants don’t have that many players that deserve to be named team captain.

Barkley is back with the team after a much-publicized contract dispute during the offseason, and he is looking to build on a very strong 2022 campaign in which he tallied 1,312 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.

Jones, meanwhile, is hoping to prove he is truly worthy of the four-year, $160 million contract he recently received.

Last season, he completed 67.2 percent of his pass attempts and ran for 708 yards and seven touchdowns, but he threw for just 3,205 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Lawrence is New York’s best player on defense, and he also received a generous new contract after making his first Pro Bowl last year.

The Giants will look to show that their success last season, when they upset the 13-4 Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, was no fluke.
