Steve Kerr Has Honest Reaction To Team USA Losing In Two Scrimmages
Some NBA fans are nervous about the latest news from Team USA.
The team is just weeks away from starting their quest to win the FIBA Basketball World Cup but they experienced a surprising loss the other day.
An assembled “select team” comprised of other players beat Team USA in a practice session and it has some people concerned.
Should Team USA really be losing games, especially practice ones, already?
Head coach Steve Kerr says it’s nothing to be worried about.
Speaking to Joe Vardon of The Athletic, via ClutchPoints, Kerr stated this was actually what was supposed to happen.
“It’s a time-honored tradition of USA Basketball,” Kerr said.
He added: “You want to get great talent to come in and challenge you and that’s what the Select team did.”

That’s a positive spin on this loss and it might leave some fans rolling their eyes.
But there is truth to Kerr’s remarks.
He needs his team to be challenged and the select team did just that.
By losing to this squad, Team USA has seen its weak spots and they now know what needs to be changed.
This is exactly the sort of information Kerr and his coaching staff needs.
It is worth remembering that the select team was full of other NBA players.
Therefore, a loss isn’t as terrible as one might think.
And if Kerr does use this defeat as a way to get the team better then it’ll all be worth it.
Team USA has a few more weeks to get ready for the World Cup.
Does that mean a few more losses to select teams are on the horizon?
