Patrick Mahomes Gets Honest On The Chiefs Dynasty

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have won two of the last four Super Bowls, which has led many to wonder if they’re a dynasty.

Dynasties are very hard to come by in pro sports, especially in the NFL, where parity and randomness seem to rule more than in other pro leagues.

Mahomes was asked if his team is a dynasty yet, and he said that they’ve merely established the beginning of one, and that perhaps three world championships would elevate them into that type of stratosphere.

The last true dynasty in the NFL was the New England Patriots, who won six Super Bowls between the 2001 and 2018 seasons behind legendary quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick.

Before that, the San Francisco 49ers took home five Vince Lombardi Trophies between 1981 and 1994, and many would also argue that the Dallas Cowboys of the early to mid-1990s also qualify as a true dynasty.

The Chiefs won it all last season despite trading away superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill during the offseason, which highlights how much of a magician Mahomes truly is.

This fall and winter, they will have to deal with a new challenge — the departure of wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster, their most productive wideout in 2022 who posted 933 yards during the regular season.

In Kansas City’s come-from-behind Super Bowl win over the Philadelphia Eagles, he had a team-high seven receptions to help lead their victorious rally.

But Mahomes has perhaps proven that he isn’t dependent on any one star playmaker to lead his team to the biggest wins.
