Fans of the Los Angeles Lakers are grappling with the choice their team has: do they sign Anthony Davis to a contract extension this summer or let him sit on his current contract?

Some people think the Lakers should jump at the chance to sign Davis to a multi-year deal.

Meanwhile, others believe they should wait and see how the next season plays out.

Shannon Sharpe appreciates and celebrates Davis but he still thinks the Lakers shouldn’t sign him to an extension this summer.

“How could you be mad at the Lakers given his history since The Bubble? He’s always injured,” Sharpe said on Undisputed.

Sharpe had plenty of praise for Davis and commended the work he’s done, especially in this latest postseason.

But he says that the big man isn’t producing like he should and isn’t playing in the ways the team needs.

He said that “LeBron was supposed to be kicking his heels up” at this point in his career, handing off responsibilities to Davis.

Yet, James is still the leading scorer for the team and is playing nearly every game from tip-off to the final buzzer.

As for Davis, he does encounter a lot of injuries and is only getting older.

Sharpe claims that Davis should get with the conditioning and training staff that James uses and find a way to become healthy, stay healthy, and get the most out of his body.

His inconsistency and his injuries should prevent him from getting a new contract extension this summer, Sharpe claims.

But will the Lakers listen to him?
