Former MLB Star Has High Praise For Spencer Strider
Spencer Strider has certainly been a revelation for the Atlanta Braves.
The young right-hander broke into the big leagues in 2021, but had a breakout season in 2022.
Last year, the Braves ace won 11 games and posted an ERA of 2.57 in 31 appearances and 20 starts.
The 24-year-old is off to a good start in 2023, having gone 3-0 in five starts, posting an ERA of just 1.80.
On Monday, Strider took a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the Miami Marlins and struck out a career-high 13 batters.
The following day, former MLB star Lorenzo Cain raved about Strider and his ability to dominate with just two pitches.
On the podcast “Foul Territory,” Cain explained to A.J. Pierzynski and Scott Braun what makes him so tough to hit and why he is so dominant.
“He’s different … I don’t know how to explain it. You just have to get in that box and just see it for yourself.”

Strider is essentially a two-pitch pitcher in the early stages of his career.
However, Cain said it was very hard to explain just how dominant Strider can be.
He talked about the movement on his pitches and the way he executes them, as well as his bread and butter when trying to strike hitters out.
Cain recalled having faced Strider briefly during the 2021 season, and said that if somebody wanted to find out what it was like to face Strider, they would actually have to do it themselves.
Cain also recalled how Strider used his slider and his two-seam fastball, referring to those pitches as his kryptonite during his career.
However, the former outfielder said that if Strider continues on this path, he’ll be around for a long time.
