The Staples Center-Crypto.com Arena era for the Los Angeles Clippers will end after next season, with the team building a new arena in Inglewood called the Intuit Dome.

Even though the team will have to continue sharing Crypto.com Arena with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2023-24 NBA season, the Intuit Dome will be ready to go to start the 2024-25 campaign, which will give the franchise a fresh start out of the shadow of the 17-time NBA champions.

Along with getting a new state-of-the-art stadium in Inglewood, there were rumors floating around that the team may take this opportunity to make another change, with a potential team name change on the table.

According to Arash Markazi of The Sporting Tribune, Clippers team owner Steve Ballmer has no plans to change the name of the team after doing some research on if it would be in the franchise’s best interest.

Name changes in professional sports don’t happen all that often, especially for franchises with a successful history.

Obviously, the Clippers don’t have a track record of success, with Ballmer and company still trying to win its first NBA title.

That said, a name change would be a terrible idea for the squad led by superstars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, but for whatever reason, Ballmer and his people decided against it.

It’ll be interesting to see how things change for the Clippers once they officially open the doors to the Intuit Dome, which will be a massive upgrade over the dated Crypto.com Arena.
