The Baltimore Orioles will change owners, in what has been a highly anticipated move for countless fans.

This week, it was confirmed that John P. Angelos, current owner and son of longtime O’s owner Peter Angelos, will be selling the organization for $1.7 billion.

The buyer?

Baltimore native and billionaire David Rubenstein.

Rubenstein won’t be alone in his new quest, though.

One of the investors will be Cal Ripken Jr., who happens to be a franchise legend.

Ripken went to his official Twitter account to confirm the rumors and to express his happiness and gratitude toward Orioles fans.

He says he would like to do whatever it takes to bring joy to the organization that drafted and developed him.

“I am excited to once again be a part of the @Orioles organization and I thank @DM_Rubenstein for including me in the ownership group. The Orioles have been a part of my life since I was a child, and this is a special day. I look forward to this opportunity and will do whatever I can to help the organization. Let’s go O’s!” he tweeted.

Always classy, Ripken sure jumpstarted a discussion in his replies.

The shortstop is the owner of the record for most consecutive games played with 2,632.

He also retired with a .276 batting average, 3,184 hits, 431 home runs, and 1,695 RBI.

He is a 19-time All-Star and won a World Series in 1983.

He is also a Rookie of the Year and a two-time MVP award winner.

Since retiring, he has been a successful businessman and even owns some minor league teams.

Even if he won’t be the majority owner, he will be part of the board.
