As the head coach of the Denver Broncos last season, things couldn’t have gone much worse for Nathaniel Hackett in his first year with the franchise.

Hackett was eventually let go by the Broncos before the 2022 season even came to an end, and then a few months later, he was hired by the New York Jets to be the team’s new offensive coordinator.

On Sunday, Hackett will get to return to Denver for the first time since he was fired last year, and it’s safe to assume that he’s going to be a little motivated to help the Jets get a win in this matchup.

However, the New York offensive coordinator recently kept it pretty simple when asked about facing his former team, via SNY.

“Gotta go win a football game,” he said.

Despite the team’s struggles, Hackett also said the Broncos organization treated him “great” during his tenure with the franchise.

From his very first regular-season game as Denver’s head coach in 2022, it just didn’t seem like he was fit for all of the extra responsibilities that came with being a head coach.

The Broncos were only able to win four games last season with Hackett leading the way, which is tied for the fewest in the franchise’s history for someone who was the head coach of the team for at least 10 games.

On Sunday, the former Denver head coach will attempt to get revenge on his old team when he and the 1-3 Jets travel to take on the 1-3 Broncos.

It will be interesting to see what kinds of tricks Hackett might have up his sleeve in order to help New York leave the field with a win over the Broncos this weekend.
