Joel Embiid Opens Up On Playing In The Olympics
The Philadelphia 76ers need to be quite careful regarding Joel Embiid’s body.
He’s always been quite injury-prone, and his performances in the playoffs have often been affected by fatigue and injuries.
However, he doesn’t seem to care about that right now, as he plans to play in the Olympics next summer.
During the team’s Media Day, the reigning MVP confirmed his desire to suit up for the Olympics, adding that he loves all three options he has right now (via NBACentral).
Next summer, Joel Embiid will make a choice between three countries: Cameroon, France, and the USA

Embiid is currently eligible to play for Cameroon, France, or the USA.
Needless to say, he would make a bigger impact on Cameroon, as the team doesn’t boast as much NBA-caliber talent as the other teams do.
France has reportedly set an October 10 deadline for him to make a decision about playing for them or not.
They claim they won’t chase him, and rightfully so, as they still have Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert ready to fill in that role.
As for Team USA, size and a physical presence in the middle have often been big issues for Steve Kerr’s team, so he would obviously have a huge role if he were to make that decision.
Embiid has a lot to think about, from how to take care of his body to be able to play in the Olympics, all the way to how playing for any of these three teams could affect his legacy.
For now, all he should be thinking about is the upcoming season with the Sixers.
