For 16 NBA seasons, Dwyane Wade was a force to be reckoned with, and he retired as, in the minds of most people, the third-greatest shooting guard to ever play basketball.

He is remembered as an explosive scorer who won three NBA championships, two of which came with LeBron James.

When Wade first teamed up with James for the 2010-11 season on the Miami Heat, their partnership on the court was awkward, as their styles of play didn’t mesh well together, and partly as a result, the Heat lost the world title in six games to the Dallas Mavericks.

But Wade made some adjustments to make that partnership work, and Jason Timpf outlined those adjustments.

The main flaw Wade had at the time was that he wasn’t very effective off the ball, but that started to change during the 2011-12 campaign.

As Timpf mentioned, the guard added a low post game, and he became adept at cutting to the basket and scoring off such actions.

Overall, Wade decided to take a back seat and allow James to be the undisputed leader and top offensive threat for Miami, and that is when the team started to get over the hump.

It won the 2012 NBA title over the Oklahoma City Thunder, and for good measure, it repeated as world champs in 2013 by outlasting the dynastic San Antonio Spurs in seven games.

They were able to do so even though Wade had noticeably lost his once-feared athleticism and was starting to have knee problems.

He just got inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame earlier this summer, and no Heat fan, or basketball fan in general, will ever forget his exploits on the game’s biggest stage.
