After seemingly endless speculation about his future with the Las Vegas Raiders, Josh Jacobs was finally able to agree to terms with the team on a one-year deal for the upcoming season, which will pay him potentially upwards of $12 million.

Essentially, Jacobs only missed training camp and the preseason as a result of his holdout, as many predicted he would, in order to avoid an injury ahead of the 2023 NFL season.

With Jacobs healthy and motivated for the upcoming season, the Raiders had to address a surplus of running backs the team had brought on in case the All-Pro decided to extend his holdout into the season or potentially sit out the entire year.

As a result, the Raiders have reportedly parted ways with veteran running back Damien Williams, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The Raiders recently brought on Williams in a move that many believed indicated that Jacobs would sit out, which obviously was not the case.

Williams has bounced around the league quite a bit after spending the first four years of his career with the Miami Dolphins.

After his stint with the Dolphins, Williams had arguably his two best seasons in the league playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, where he racked up 13 total touchdowns over the course of two years.

Then he played 12 games for the Chicago Bears in 2021 before landing with the Atlanta Falcons last year, where he only played in two games with only two yards to his credit.

Although it seems like Williams’ best years are behind him, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that he lands with another team and proves to be the missing piece to their run game.
