Saturday Marks An Important Cardinals Anniversary
Matt Carpenter was one of the finest players to ever wear the St. Louis Cardinals uniform.
Though now with the San Diego Padres, Carpenter was well loved in St. Louis and helped guide them to eight postseason berths in his first 11 years with the team.
He won a World Series ring in 2011 and helped guide the team back to the Fall Classic in 2013.
However, five years ago on this date, the veteran slugger achieved a special feat.
In a game against the Colorado Rockies, Carpenter doubled four times as the team rolled to a 12-3 victory.
In that game, Carpenter tied Cardinals legend Joe Medwick’s franchise record for most doubles in a single game.
On Twitter, Bally Sports Midwest recalled this special day.

2018 was one of Carpenter’s best seasons in St. Louis.
After a dreadful start to the season, he got hot and finished with 36 home runs, even forcing his way into the conversation for MVP honors in the National League.
But this day was a special day in Cardinals history, as Carpenter put together a truly remarkable performance against the Rockies and helped the team win a crucial series.
Carpenter was a three-time All-Star and even earned a Silver Slugger Award during his time in St. Louis.
In addition to his 36 home runs in 2018, he hit for a .257 average while driving in 81 runs, reaching base at a .374 clip, slugging .523, and posting a .897 OPS.
This was one of Carpenter’s best years in St. Louis, and it was punctuated by several great performances such as this one.
