The American League West is quickly becoming one of the most compelling divisions to watch in all of Major League Baseball.

For most of this season, that division has been dominated by the Texas Rangers, with the defending World Series champion Houston Astros never far behind.

However, a new challenger has emerged from the shadows, as the Seattle Mariners are on quite a roll and have actually tied the Rangers for the top spot in the division.

Houston sits in third place, one game behind Texas and Seattle.

On Twitter, MLB insider Sarah Langs posted a graphic courtesy of FanGraphs which shows just how crazy things have gotten in the AL West.

The graphic shows that for much of the season, Houston and Texas have been battling it out for the top spot in the division, with Seattle sitting within striking distance.

Now, the division is very much a three-team race, and the final month of the season should be exciting as we wait and see who ultimately comes out on top.

The Rangers’ eight-game losing skid has allowed the Mariners to pull themselves together and catch Texas at the top.

The Astros have lost three consecutive games as well, which has also helped open the door for the Mariners to get hot and make a run to the top.

But as the graphic shows, the Mariners have been on the outside looking in for much of the year.

All of the sudden, they have gotten hot and now have a strong chance to win their first division title since 2001.
