Over the weekend, the St. Louis Cardinals made the decision to promote their top prospect in shortstop Masyn Winn.

Winn had been performing well at Triple-A Memphis and many Cardinals fans were looking forward to seeing the young shortstop at the Major League level.

Winn has had only 14 at-bats at the Major League level, but he picked up his first MLB hit on Friday night against the New York Mets and had two hits on Sunday.

On Monday, Katie Woo, who covers the team for The Athletic, discussed what Winn brings to the table and how he could make an impact on the Cardinals, via 101 ESPN St. Louis.

Woo was very straightforward in her assessment of Winn, saying that he was every bit as good as advertised.

Given the struggles of the Cardinals this season, there hasn’t been a lot for fans to cheer about, especially since the trade deadline came and went.

However, Woo thinks that having Winn on the roster could be something that draws fans to the ballpark as they get a look at their shortstop for the future.

Making a Major League debut is a daunting task, but Woo believes that the current road trip the Cardinals are on will help him find his footing and prove what type of player he can be.

She praised Winn’s professionalism and his ability to handle the pressure of making his big-league debut.

Winn possesses speed, power, and a strong arm that should help the Cardinals in the future and draw more fans to the stands in 2024.
